Latest Review of The Emirates First Class Lounge Dubai

Seeing yourself in the Emirates First Class Lounge means you’re probably about to experience one of the best ways to fly. Either in one of Emirates Boeing 777s, its’ flagship Airbus A380s, a guest of a First-Class passenger like I was on this trip (yep, I had a mixed-cabin itinerary), or maybe you’re one of Emirates Skywards top elites. Whichever the case may be, let us start by saying that the Emirates First Class Lounge is a treat on its’ own.

After another phenomenal flight in Emirates First Class from Washington DC to Dubai, we camped at the Emirates First Class lounge for a few hours while we decide whether to go to Dubai Expo directly from the airport or just stop by at our hotel room first during our 20-hours stopover in Dubai before continuing our honeymoon trip to the Maldives.

For this review, I’ll be focusing on 2 things. The first being “what has changed” and the second being “accessing the first class lounge with a business class boarding pass”. Now, let’s dive in.

How did you access the lounge as a guest?

After being escorted by Princess (Emirates’ staff) from the jet-bridge to the lounge, she quickly processed our check-in without hassle. My wife and I flew in on flight EK232 in First Class, and while my wife would be flying First Class on the next flight, I was only in Business Class. One of those mixed-cabin bookings from Alaska Airlines. But in all honesty, I also wanted to use the opportunity to review the business class product on the old Boeing 777.

Was there a time you were questioned at the lounge?

Absolutely not! We exited the lounge a few times and each time we returned, it was always a warm “welcome back Mr. and Mrs. The Points Engineer”. 

So what has changed at the lounge since your last review?

Due to the pandemic, there has been some changes in the lounge. Safety protocols like never before have been introduced, you’ll find the menu in a form of QR codes at every table, and patrons are no longer able to dish their own food from the buffet stations. 

But with all these little changes, there were no cutbacks in services. The food was as good as it used to be, and all amenities like the children’s playroom, showers and spa were operating during our visits.

The table service at the Emirates First Class Lounge Dubai was on-par, and I personally liked the exclusivity. Though the lounge was fairly empty and the airport itself wasn’t too busy during our visit. Interestingly, the best food we had during our entire honeymoon trip was at the lounge.

We had Prawn biryani (Served with pine nuts, fried onions, and yoghurt sauce) and a Korean style marinated veal cheeks (Served with mushroom fried rice, lotus root chips and kimche) which tasted so good.

We left the airport for about 10 hours and on our return to the lounge we decided to have late dinner before our flight a few hours later. This time, we ordered Pan seared seabass fillet (Panzanella salad, yellow zucchini purée) and Scottish tandoori salmon fillet (Served with lemon rice, Katchumber salad and green chili tempura). Each of these dishes tasted delicious and were decently presented.

How was your experience at the Spa?

It was a great experience. In my opinion, providing a complimentary treatment at the spa was another great touch from Emirates Airlines. For our 15-minutes treatment, we opted for the couple’s Thai back stretch massage which was quite helpful. Although it’s called a couple’s massage, we didn’t receive the massage in the same room.

Can you sleep at the lounge?

Absolutely. The lounge has a quite room fitted with daybeds where you can snooze. Pillows, blankets, and eye masks were also made available. While I did not sleep in the lounge during my visit, I found the foot traffic of those opening and closing the door of the quiet room to be bothersome.

What more can I say 🙂 Again, it’s the Emirates First Class Lounge. When flying Emirates First Class, you know a First-Class experience awaits.
