We recently got engaged and were exploring several locations for our engagement photos. After my booking was cancelled by The St. Regis New York for the third time in less than a year due to the hotel not reopening as scheduled, The St. Regis Washington DC came to mind.
It was even better at this time since many Marriott hotels were pricing at off-peak rates. Seeing that this hotel was going for 45,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night, I did not hesitate to book right away. After a smooth 3-hours drive from Jersey to DC, we were excited to be spending our Sunday night at The St. Regis Washington DC.
The moment we stepped into the lobby, we were transported back in time to the 1930s by the classic, yet beautiful lobby with the chandeliers and French windows.
I was already notified on the Marriott Bonvoy app around noon that the room was ready, and with this, we didn’t have to stop by at the front desk since we already have the mobile key.

I had earlier contacted the hotel a few days prior to our arrival to inform them about our recent engagement, and the hotel provided us a personalized handwritten note and a champagne in the room.
The St. Regis Washington DC is located two blocks away from The White House, and minutes from the state capital’s top attractions. We can say due to its’ close proximity to the White House, this is one hotel that many presidents and celebs have stayed at. This 5-star luxury hotel is a Category 7 property under the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio.
I had booked a 1 King Superior Guest Room at 45,000 points per night but were assigned a Grand Luxe Larger Guest Room. This 485 square feet room featured a sleeper sofa, a radio and iPod sound dock, a DVD player, and a TV which in my own opinion could be bigger. The chandelier in the room depicts the exquisite lifestyle that the St. Regis brand is known for.

The bathroom was spacious enough for a downtown hotel. Although this room only has a walk-in shower, but I must say that the absence of a bathtub was not a problem for us especially since the gold-plated shower head provided a really good water pressure.
And like every other St. Regis Hotel, Remede bath amenities were made available in this oversized bathroom.
And it won’t be a 5-star hotel if a phone is not present in the bathroom. Especially right by the toilet bowl.

The St. Regis Hotels are known for excellent breakfast spread, and that was the case during our visit at this hotel. Despite the pandemic, the St. Regis Washington DC did a great job in providing such a great breakfast while still maintaining every safety protocol regarding COVID-19.
Only in-room dining option was available during our visit, which worked perfectly well for us. Everything that we ordered on the menu tasted so good and we were very satisfied with the food presentation.

Since we had a car during this stay, our only option was valet parking which we did with gladness. The valet parking rate was $64 per night (taxes included). There is also a parking garage a block away where the hotel recommends to guests interested in self-parking.
My verdict? This was a great way to churn 45,000 Marriott Bonvoy points and I must say we did get a really good value for our $$. The hotel staff (Ayeesha & Jen) went out of their ways to make sure we were celebrated. The breakfast was great, and so is the hotel itself in a great location. We will definitely stay here again whenever we’re in the DC area.
Enjoyable read…continue to keep up the good job!! More grace to you Kayode!
Thank you 🙂
